I am incredibly honored (and daunted!) to step into the role of Executive Director of Families as Allies. Although I come to this role as with relevant professional experience, it is my role as “dad” the drives me. The successful and unsuccessful experiences when seeking support with my son’s health and education guide my undying passion to partner with families in similar situations.
For many years, I have admired the organization’s unwavering commitment to ensuring the state’s systems of care are family-driven while walking alongside empowered families as full partners in decisions that impact their children. I’m excited to do my part to extend this legacy.
As I begin this journey, I want to express my deepest gratitude to Joy Hogge for her extraordinary leadership. Through her dedication, courage, and vision, Joy helped shape Families as Allies into the respected and impactful organization it is today. I am thankful for the strong foundation she leaves behind as she journeys towards her next challenge. For such a little person, she has left some very big shoes to fill! 😊
I also want to extend my sincere thanks to Stacey Spiehler and the Board of Directors for their faith and confidence in me. I am deeply grateful for the opportunity to serve in this role and intend to validate their trust as we work together to advance our mission.
Henry, Coreaner, and Nikki—together the heart and face of Families As Allies—have earned the trust of families and communities through their compassion, expertise, and unwavering commitment. Their relationships and lived experience are central to who we are as an organization, and I look forward to supporting them as we continue to work with our fellow helpers in other organizations throughout the state to partner with Mississippi families.
Thank you for welcoming me. I look forward to the journey ahead.
