Families as Allies was thrilled to be the guest on Informed in Five, a Facebook Live webcast produced by the Mississippi Parent Training and Information Center. On this episode, we focused on our parent-to-parent, peer-support coaching group.
This group is for any parents/caregivers supporting other parents or any caregivers in any system. That includes certified parent peer-support specialists in the mental health system and parent consultants working with families of children and youth with special health care needs in the health care system.
This group offers support from other parents who are doing the same work, but it also encourages parents to become more aware of the best practices to make peer-to-peer support work across systems. General feedback from this group is also used to help the systems learn to be more responsive to families and to parent peer support.
Meetings are held via Zoom on the third Wednesday of every month at 12 p.m.
