Making A Plan (MAP) teams are local groups that support children and youth (up to 21 years of age) with serious emotional/behavioral disorders or serious mental illness who:

• are at risk for out-of-home placement (such as a psychiatric hospital or juvenile detention center) due to lack of access to, or availability of, needed services and supports in their home and community, or

• are returning to a primary caregiver in the community from an inpatient acute psychiatric hospital or psychiatric residential treatment facility.

You can learn more about MAP teams, including how to contact the one in your area, beginning on page 9 of the Mississippi Department of Mental Health’s Division of Children and Youth Service Directory.

Families as Allies began facilitating the Hinds County MAP Team in August of 2020 and we are excited to share with all of you this newly created brochure. Please feel free to share it with families and anyone who spends time with families, such as clergy, teachers, community leaders, coaches and child care providers.

The brochure provides information about how to become part of the Hinds County MAP Team and how to connect families with the MAP Team. If you have additional questions about the Hinds County MAP team please contact Henry Moore, team facilitator, at 601-355-0915 or hmoore@faams.org.
