An important message from our friends and colleagues at the Mississippi Coalition for Citizens with Disabilities.

Dear Attorneys, Advocates and Families,

Please help us spread the word.

The Coalition for Citizens with Disabilities is hosting its 8th Annual Special Education Law CLE and we will have great presentations from our experienced faculty.  We will present, this year, at the Mississippi College School of Law.

  • Ron Morton, LLM and certified elder law attorney, will talk about Benefits related to children with disabilities
  • Judith Gran, a nationally recognized special education attorney, will present our Ethics hour (Who Is The Client In Special Ed Matters) and will give an Update On Important Rulings and Decisions
  • Pam Dollar, executive director of the Coalition, and Julian Miller, special education attorney and children’s advocate, will present on Dispute Resolution Proceedings and Options

Here is the registration link and a flier.

Cost is $150, $75 for students, and stipends available for parents.  Attorneys can get up to 6 hours of CLE credit which includes the ethics hour, and teachers can get 6 CEUs (applied for).

The lawyer’s creed calls us to work “to make the law and our legal system available to all.”  Still, families of children with special education needs often lack access to legal representation.  We want to remedy this gap in legal services for the sake of children with special education needs, and for the sake of our State’s future.  The more people are educated on the rights of children with special education needs, the more we open doors together.

Help us by sharing this, far and wide, with lawyers, judges, advocates, guardians ad litem, educators, agencies, elected officials, parents/guardians.

And remember, if you know parents, including attorneys, of a child with a disability, or if you have a child with a disability, we have a number of stipends.
