The Mississippi Early Childhood Development Coalition (ECDC) held a press conference on March 11 at Child Health Awareness Capitol Day to announce its new campaign, One Dial Supports a Child: 1-800-241-KIDS. The Mississippi Chapter of the American Academy of Pediatrics was a cosponsor of Child Health Awareness Day and also spoke at the press conference.
Anyone with questions about Mississippi’s early childhood system can contact the ECDC at 1-800-241-KIDS for information and resources. At the press conference, we especially urged legislators to support constituents on their issues and provide research assistance.
See the video for remarks that Joy Hogge, executive director of Families as Allies, shared at the press conference. You can learn more about the event in this story from this WAPT news story and on the ECDC’s Facebook post.
The ECDC is a statewide network of people from all parts of Mississippi’s early childhood system. The ECDC provides a platform for members to share resources and expertise and create pathways that promote healthy early childhood growth and development. Speakers at the press conference highlighted how ECDC membership has supported them in navigating the early childhood system in Mississippi by providing connections to resources and new contacts, and by providing information about legislation, current data, and new and helpful research.
“Mississippi’s early childhood system is strongest when the people doing the work are connected. The Early Childhood Development Coalition helps families and early childhood professionals across the state share knowledge, align efforts, and ensure that children have what they need during the most important years of their development,” said Nadeane Cattrell, Executive Director of Mississippi Families for Kids.
Backbone support for the coalition is provided by Mississippi Families for Kids (MFFK).
