ACTION ALERT: IEPs and 504 Plans May Be in Jeopardy

Letter to Betsy DeVos - Families as AlliesWe recently alerted you that the federal COVID-19 recovery package also includes language that permits the United States Department of Education Secretary to ask Congress to allow changes to the services, rights, and protections in children’s IEPs and 504 Plans.

We understand from our partners at the National Federation of Families for Children’s Mental Health and National PLACE that Secretary Betsy DeVos is moving forward to request these changes.

We encourage all of you who have feedback about permitting changes to the services, rights, and protections in IEPS and 504 Plans to email Secretary DeVos at betsy.devos@ed.gov. Please copy Mark Schultz (mark.schultz@ed.gov) and Laurie Vanderploeg (laurie.vanderploeg@ed.gov) on your email.
