Federal law requires states to develop beneficiary advisory councils (BAC) to advise Medicaid: “The State must form and support a BAC, which can be an existing beneficiary group, that is comprised of: individuals who are currently or have been Medicaid beneficiaries and individuals with direct experience supporting Medicaid beneficiaries (family members and paid or unpaid caregivers of those enrolled in Medicaid), to advise the State regarding their experience with the Medicaid program, on matters of concern related to policy development and matters related to the effective administration of the Medicaid program.”
Mississippi’s Medicaid Beneficiary Advisory Council will hold its first meeting this Friday, May 16, from 10 a.m. to noon in the Cobb Conference Center inside the Walter Sillers Building, located at 550 High Street in downtown Jackson. The meeting is open to the public, and you can attend either in person or virtually. The link to join virtually will be available by Wednesday. Families as Allies will post the link on Facebook and our events calendar.
If you attend the meeting in person, you can park in the garage next to the Sillers building and in the lot across the street from it.
Here is the agenda for the meeting. If you have questions about the meeting or the council, contact Shelby Berryman (Phone: 601-359-9115 Email: Shelby.Berryman@medicaid.ms.gov).
