Heartfelt Thanks to Legacy Education and Community Empowerment Foundation, Inc

  • Post category:News

We are thankful that the Legacy Education and Community Empowerment Foundation, Inc (LEACEF) highlighted mental health in general, and the work of Families as Allies in particular, during the month of July.  We were also touched and humbled that LEACEF’s executive director, Constance O.S.H.-Burwell, surprised our staff with “happies” to express LEACEF’s appreciation for the ways we’ve helped families that they referred to us.

According to its website, “Legacy’s mission is to promote positive developments that encourage community education and social justice for all, including historically underserved and overlooked populations. It believes that community education is crucial and that: 1. CHILDREN are responsible for their actions and educational success; 2. PARENTS are responsible for youth’s food, shelter, safety, security, and encouraging positive educational activities; and 3. LEGACY is a servant leader responsible for facilitating new experiences.

“Legacy envisions an empowered community that is led by Change Agents who are intergenerational and diverse. Legacy Change Agents are servant leaders who work to build a sustainable community. Legacy Change Agents are empowered servant leaders who are innovative, community-oriented, service-oriented, diplomatic, educated, respectful, ethical, well-rounded, and confident.”

We are grateful to LEACEF for believing in us and partnering with us. We hope you will take some time to learn more about LEACEF and its work in the community.
