Don’t Miss These Important Medicaid Meetings on Jan. 16th

Mississippi’s Medicaid Beneficiary Advisory Council (MBAC) will meet on Friday, January 16, from 10 a.m. to noon in the Cobb Conference Center inside the Walter Sillers Building at 550 High Street in downtown Jackson. A public link will be posted on the day of the meeting on the Division of Medicaid website.

In the posted notice, the division described MBAC as such: “The purpose of the Mississippi Medicaid Beneficiary Advisory Council (MBAC) is to advise the Mississippi Division of Medicaid (DOM) Executive Director with recommendations that will enhance the experience of Medicaid members and facilitate access to high-quality medical care delivered in a cost-effective manner.”

Mississippi’s Medicaid Advisory Committee (MAC) will also meet that same day at 2 p.m., also in the Cobb Conference Center. The meetings are open to the public and can be attended in person or virtually. A public link will be posted on the day of the meeting on the Division of Medicaid website.

According to the MAC notice, “The Mississippi Medicaid Advisory Committee is required by federal regulation to advise the Division of Medicaid about health and medical care services.”

Agendas for the two meetings have not yet been published. At the last MBAC, the Council suggested  Paid Family Caregiving as an agenda item for this meeting.

You can check Medicaid’s section of the state’s public meeting notices website to see if they have posted the virtual link to the MAC there. They may also post it on this page of Medicaid’s website. Here is more information about the BAC and how to apply to be a council member.

Shelby Berryman (Shelby.Berryman@medicaid.ms.gov, 601-359-9115) is the Division of Medicaid contact for the MBAC.
