SUMMARY:Procedural Safeguards: What is Child Find?
DESCRIPTION:It can be confusing to know what to do if it seems like a child has a disability that affects their learning and they are not currently receiving special education services. This session goes over what public schools are obligated to do if they become aware of children in this situation and how families can request evaluations for their children if they believe this to be the case. This is the first in a five part series about the procedural safeguards. Participants are welcome to attend any or all of the sessions. This training is appropriate for families and anyone who works with families in any system. \nRegister here: https://us02web.zoom.us/webinar/register/WN_RnKVLRCPRFy6UBiwv5byrA

SUMMARY:Addressing the Adverse Impacts of COVID-19 on Children with Serious Emotional Disorders
DESCRIPTION:Since March 2020\, children across the country have been isolated at home participating in distance learning. The impacts academically\, socially\, and emotionally have been staggering\, particularly for children with pre-existing serious emotional disorders and their families. There has been a reduction in referrals to child protective services\, an increase in isolation\, depression\, anxiety\, and a decrease in engagement which can lead to lower academic success. What do all of these things mean in the short-term and the long-term? What can be done to attempt to mitigate some of these adverse effects? Join our Roundtable Discussion as we provide information and answer your questions. \nBy the end of the roundtable discussion\, participants will be able to:\n• Understand the impact of distance learning on academic outcomes\n• Explain the social-emotional impacts of distance learning\n• Describe two trauma-informed\, resilience-oriented strategies to address the impacts \nRegister here: eventsna3.adobeconnect.com/content/connect/c1/986655080/en/events/event/shared/1700946820/event_registration.html?sco-id=3045149718
