SUMMARY:Heart Work Series: Am I Just Another Number? Healing-centered Re-unification for Young People who are Justice-impacted | MONDAYS IN AUGUST
DESCRIPTION:National Training & TA Center  \nThe Heart Work Series will meet every Monday in August.  In each session\, you’ll hear from national and international leaders working on the frontlines of youth justice\, championing healing-centered approaches. Don’t miss this opportunity to learn about new paradigms for youth justice! \nThis session delves into the power of healing-centered education as a vital tool for reunification and reintegration. We know that reentry programs often fall short\, leaving young people feeling like just another number. However\, research from Youth.Gov reveals that connecting youth with dedicated case managers\, mentors\, and educational and employment opportunities can significantly reduce recidivism rates. \nDuring this impactful session\, you’ll hear from Karen Jeet Dhaliwal and Lane Krumpos\, two national leaders in youth justice and re-entry\, as they discuss the transformative power of education in the reunification process. \nRegister here >> \n

SUMMARY:Project SEARCH: What's Happening in Mississippi
DESCRIPTION:Mississippi Parent Training & Information Center Project \nThe Project SEARCH Program is a unique\, business-led\, nine-month employment preparation program that takes place entirely at the workplace. Up to 12 students with disabilities experience total workplace immersion\, classroom instruction\, career exploration\, and hands-on training through three different worksite rotations. The goal for each participant is competitive employment. To reach that goal\, the program provides real-life work experience combined with training in employability and independent-living skills to help young people with significant disabilities make successful transitions to productive adult life. \n274 individuals with disabilities have graduated from Project SEARCH Mississippi since Project SEARCH UMMC launched in August 2018. 162 of those individuals have gained employment. There are 53 graduates currently seeking employment. Mississippi currently has 28 Project SEARCH sites across the state. Over 200 interns will be participating in Project SEARCH beginning in August\, 2024. \nRegister here>>
