SUMMARY:The Family Room with Sue Badeau
DESCRIPTION:National Federation of Families \nA Family Room is often defined as an “informal gathering place for all members of a family” or “a comfortable space.” \nThe “Family Room” is that space: parents\, caregivers\, and family members actively engage in an interactive discussion with one another\, ask questions\, and also share their solutions in an informal setting. \nNFSTAC’s Family Room is back May 16th from 4p EDT – 5p EDT. Your host for the series is Sue Badeau\, an author\, trainer\, speaker\, and family peer expert with lived experience as the parent of 22 children. \nOur May conversation starter was suggested by last month’s attendees\, so Sue will get us started on how to develop the skills or voice to ask for support or help – whether it’s you or your family member. From there\, the rest of the discussion is up to everyone in the meeting. We invite you to turn on your cameras and be part of the discussion to maximize engagement. Registration is limited to ensure a more personalized experience. \nRegister here>>

SUMMARY:2024 NAMI Mississippi State Conference on Mental Health
DESCRIPTION:NAMI \n“Where Mental Meets Physical” Inspired by the new NAMI Hearts + Minds program\, this year’s theme was chosen as physical and mental health are connected. Research suggests that the two are so closely linked that they can even directly affect one another. For example\, depression can increase one’s risk for diabetes\, heart disease\, or stroke\, and chronic conditions such as cancer or heart disease can increase a person’s risk of developing a mental health condition. \nThe conference will be held from May 16-17\, 2024\, with half-day sessions on Friday\, May 17. Lunch on Thursday\, May 16\, is included. CEUs are being applied for and included unless the issuer requires a separate payment. \nPEER SCHOLARSHIP \nAre you a Peer? (those living with a mental illness\, co-occurring disorder\, or substance use disorder) \nIf you are a Peer\, NAMI Mississippi offers a scholarship to attend the 2024 State Conference. Lodging is not included. Please complete this online application by clicking here to be considered for the 25 available scholarships. \nThe deadline for the Peer Scholarship application is April 30\, 2024. \nRegister here>> \n
