SUMMARY:Empower More Staff with Parent Café Certificates
DESCRIPTION:Be Strong Families \nBe Strong Families Cafés are physically and emotionally safe spaces where people talk and listen to each other on topics that matter to them\, such as the challenges and victories of raising a family\, navigating landscapes of inequality\, enhancing well-being\, or being involved in the recovery process of someone they love. \nThrough individual deep self-reflection and peer-to-peer learning\, participants explore their strengths\, learn about the Protective Factors\, and create strategies from their own wisdom and experiences to strengthen their families. Participants leave Cafés feeling inspired\, energized\, and excited to put into practice what they’ve learned. \nGet your team trained and certified\, and let Parent Cafés flourish in your community! \nRegister here>>

SUMMARY:Mississippi Autism Advisory Committee Meeting
DESCRIPTION:The Mississippi Autism Advisory Committee \nThe Mississippi Autism Advisory Committee (MAAC) was created by House Bill 11252 (2011 Regular Session) as the Legislature recognized an urgent need for strategies on how to best identify\, treat\, educate\, accommodate\, and employ people with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and assist their families. The MAAC’s mission is “to study\, make recommendations and develop a strategic plan on how best to educate and train students with ASD to maximize their potential productivity within the workforce … and to develop an annual plan” outlining these strategies. The MAAC is tasked with writing a report to the legislature outlining any roadblocks to creating meaningful progress in the areas of mental health\, education\, medical\, and employment for people with ASD and their families. \nRegister here>>

SUMMARY:Family Connections: Family-Led Crisis Planning
DESCRIPTION:National Federation of Families \nA family crisis can be especially difficult to navigate because it requires us to deal with many changes all at once\, and often without a plan.  During this session\, our presenter\, Nelva Ojeda\, will share how crisis plans are created and used\, discuss practical strategies\, and why it’s important that families lead the planning process. \nYou’ll also see how your voice as a parent or caregiver is instrumental in decision-making for your family. The experience may present an opportunity for positive change – whether it’s discovering and strengthening our problem-solving skills. It can also be the beginning of the family’s recovery. \nRegister here>>

SUMMARY:The Family Room with Sue Badeau
DESCRIPTION: National Family Support Technical Assistance Center \nA Family Room is often defined as an “informal gathering place for all family members” or “a comfortable space.” We hope you find that here. \nParents\, caregivers\, and family members asked us for an interactive meeting to discuss issues and challenges within their families\, feelings of isolation\, and desire for more connection and resources. They also wanted a space to “dig deeper” on topics. \nThe “Family Room” is that space where parents\, caregivers\, and family members actively engage in an interactive discussion with one another\, ask questions\, and also share their solutions in an informal setting. \nNFSTAC’s Family Room is back on April 18th from 4:00 to 5:00 PM EDT (3:00 pm – 4:00 PM CDT). Sue Badeau\, an author\, trainer\, speaker\, and family peer expert with lived experience as the parent of 22 children\, will host the series. \nLast month’s attendees suggested our April conversation starter\, so Sue will discuss how we can support career development for our young adults. From there\, the rest of the discussion is up to everyone in the meeting. We invite you to turn on your cameras and participate to maximize engagement. Registration is limited to ensure a more personalized experience. \nRegister here>>
