On Friday, August 15, Families as Allies held a virtual meeting to discuss working together to submit a proposal to the Patient-Centered Outcome Research Institute (PCORI) about how families, youth, researchers, clinicians, policymakers and groups who pay for care can ensure that wraparound research (or research about any mental health support for children) focuses on what families, youth and other partners think is most important. You can watch a recording of that meeting here.
We are having one more virtual meeting so everyone can give input about this opportunity. We want to hear from anyone who works with children and families. Most of all, we want to hear from families and older youth, especially those who are participating in or have participated in wraparound care coordination. We encourage anyone formally or informally working with children and families in any system or setting to join us for Bringing Everyone Together Around Wraparound Research on Friday, September 26, 2025, from noon to 1 p.m. CT.
Sometimes, people are unfamiliar with the names of programs in which they participate. If you are unsure if you are participating in wraparound, you can ask the mental health therapist or care coordinator who works with you. If you are participating in wraparound, you should have one person who is helping bring together everyone working with you and your family and helps make sure the goals on your child’s care plan reflect things you and your child want. That person should have helped your family develop a crisis plan as well.
We have some funds available to pay stipends to parents, caregivers (people other than parents who are raising children) and youth eighteen and older, and participating in wraparound (or have) for your time giving feedback in this group. If you are a family member or youth requesting a stipend for attending the meeting, please contact our office at 601-355-0915 ext 2 (or email info@faams.org) before this session to let us know you are requesting a stipend. You must complete the stipend paperwork (including a W-9) and attend the session. We will send you stipend checks within three weeks of the session.
